Kucharski- Enid Kucharski 81, of Norwich, died Sunday June 21, 2015. She was the widow of Charles A. Kucharski. She was born in Norwich, daughter of the late John and Enid Perkowski. Enid Kucharski was a caregiver all her life. During her childhood, Enid cared for her three younger siblings; she saved her youngest sister twice from drowning. As a wife and mother, Enid dearly loved her husband “Charlie,” and her children, “Patty” and “Chucky.” Enid also cared deeply about her faith and was a dedicated member of Jehovah’s Witnesses since the 1970s. Her care and respect for life extended beyond family, faith, and friends into the world of nature. And nature reciprocated. Spiders would visit her at the kitchen sink while she was washing dishes because she would feed crumbs to them. A small swarm of wasps followed her in to the entryway of her home one day and back out again without ever stinging her. She fed the deer, raccoons, skunks, turkeys, squirrels, woodchucks, and birds of all kinds. But Enid is best known for her love of cats. She welcomed hundreds of stray cats into her life over the years and treated each one with affection and respect. Even the most timid of feral cats would bond with Enid. Unlike those people who abandoned or dumped their cats, Enid would always provide a home and food as well as medical care to these cats. She is survived by her son, Charles F. Kucharski of Norwich, a daughter Patricia E. Kucharski of Norwich, and a sister Maryann Morin of Niantic, as well as several nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Visitation will be Monday June 29, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Labenski Funeral Home 107 Boswell Avenue Norwich followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In honor of Enid’s memory, please feel free to donate to your local animal shelter or consider rescuing a cat or dog that needs a home. Enid would thank you for it and so would the animals. Please visit www.labenskifuneralhome.com to leave an online tribute or condolence.
