

He was born on May 12, 1944 in Norwich to the late Alex and Edith (Srednicki) Buchka. After completing high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for over 20 years. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1990 holding the rank of Sgt. First Class. Thereafter he worked as a machinist and retired from Electric Boat in Groton as a Production Detail Planner.
Eugene enjoyed fishing and boating and was very proud of his service to his country.
He is survived by his son; Joseph Buchka, daughter; Katrina Kolasa, sister; Sonia Burton, grandchildren; Darrien Grannelle and Payton Howard, nephews; Joseph, Christopher and Patrick Burton, cousins; Fred Shultz, Patricia Fernald and her husband Blaine and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11th at 11am at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Norwich, CT. A Calling Hour will be held from 10am until the time of service.
