Florence L. Burt

Florence L Burt (84) of Norwich, CT passed away peacefully at the Backus Hospital on January 5, 2025 with her family by her side. Flo was predeceased by husbands-Robert Blais and Arthur Burt. Flo is survived by sisters Virginia Partain of Orlando, Florida, Patricia Tennison of Lincoln Park, Illinois, stepsister Marianne Stone of Fairfield, Iowa and Warren Riess of Bristol, Maine. Daughters Karen Myers and Susan (Roy) Wentworth of Norwich CT, and son Doug(Katie) Burt of Higganum, CT. Grandchildren Nicholas(Kayla) Hominski, Christopher Hominski, Bennington(Kimiya) Wentworth, Andrew Myers, Rachael Burt ,Ellen Burt and great grandchildren Olivia Hominski, Lucy Hominski and Cyrus Wentworth

Flo was born to Herbert and Sophie (Pudlo) Riess on March 21st 1940 in Norwich, CT. Flo grew up in the Bozrah/Norwich area. She was a 1958 graduate of Norwich Free Academy and had a long 40+ year career in the banking industry which included Chelsea Groton Bank, Navy Federal Credit Union, and Pfizer Credit Union. Post-retired Flo kept busy working as a blackjack dealer at Foxwoods and in retail and coat check at Mohegan Sun. Flo was well known at the casinos by both her coworkers and the patrons. She even became quite friendly with Tony Orlando when he would perform at Mohegan Sun.

Flo continued to keep her mind and body sharp through the years and kept busy with numerous hobbies such as jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, word searches, and swimming. She also was an avid college basketball fan and her March Madness brackets were typically the best among her friends and family group.

The family will be sharing her celebration of life in private in early Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association
