

Helen Beatrice (Shaw) Woolley, age 92, arrived safely home in heaven on Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was born on November 9, 1923 in Lisbon, CT to Rose (Geigenmeuller) and George Increase Shaw. She graduated from NFA in 1943 where she played the glockenspiel in the marching band. After graduation she was a telephone operator in Norwich during World War II until just before the birth of her first child in 1953. She married William Woolley on June 16, 1951 and they were happily married for 47 years. They were members of the Mr. & Mrs. Club for several years and also enjoyed bowling on many leagues. She was an active member of her church community. She loved being surrounded by her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her daughters Sandra Sandberg of Norwich and Kathy Bruckner of Ledyard, son-in-law Allan Bruckner, grandchildren Kimberly Sandberg, Melinda Sandberg, Hilary Sandberg (fiancé Bryan Gabiga), Katie Sandberg, Rebecca Bruckner and Christopher Bruckner. She was predeceased by her husband William Woolley and her grandson William Sandberg.
Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home at 136 Sachem Street in Norwich on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M.
