

Joan Frances Driscoll peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 1st, 2025 at Elmbrook Village in Bozrah CT. Joan was born and raised in Norwich, CT on August 1, 1936, the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude Wisnieski. She attended and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1954.
She lived the majority of her life in Franklin CT after marrying her high school sweetheart, Paul Driscoll. They were married for 60 years prior to the passing of Paul in 2017. Joan was known to be an avid gardener who loved working in her gorgeous flower gardens, and was also known to bake many delicious desserts, which included some of the best apple pies of the Fall seasons. Joan was blessed with many artistic talents. In her younger years, she loved to quilt with a local Franklin quilting club, and she also made beautiful Theorem paintings of flower arrangements on velvet media. In her later years, she loved to volunteer at Backus Hospital, where she enjoyed interacting with the patients and the staff.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Gertrude Wisnieski, her husband Paul Driscoll, and her sister Dorothy Gravel. She is survived by her son, David and his companion Claudia Muttart, and also her daughter, Cynthia and her husband Richard Schneider, and her two grandsons Christian and Joshua Schneider.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elmbrook Village, which was Joan’s residence for the last several years of her life. The staff went beyond expectations to provide excellent care for her and afford comfort to her family during the difficult periods of her last days. The family would also like to extend thanks to the staff of Hartford Healthcare Hospice who made her final days comfortable and peaceful.
Arrangements for a graveside memorial service at Maplewood Cemetery, in Norwich CT, are currently planned for July 18th, 2025, 11:00am with a reception to follow in the Preston Banquet room of Elmbrook Village, in Bozrah CT.
