Kathryn E Burns

She was born in Girardville, PA on October 20, 1947. After completing high school, Kathryn received her Master’s degree in education from Youngstown State University.

In 1972 she married the love of her life, Patrick Burns in Pennsylvania. They made their family in Ohio, New York, and CT. He survives her.

Kathryn taught for many years in the Norwich Public School system retiring in 2008 from Veteran’s Memorial School. She was an active communicant of the Cathedral of St. Patrick. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Kathryn also enjoyed cooking, baking and following UCONN women’s basketball and the CT Sun basketball team with a passion.

Kathryn is survived by her husband of 41 years, Patrick, daughters; Laura Hill, Lisa Burns, Melanie Burns, and Amanda Burns all of Norwich, granddaughters; Kathryn Hill, Miranda Hill, Faye Hall, and Grace Hall, sisters; Frances Burns of Obetz, OH, and Cathy Cochran of New Bedford, PA, brothers; Joseph Grunenwald, James Grunenwald, and George DeAngelo, and son-in-law; Chad Hall. Kathryn was predeceased by her parents; Paul and Marvel Grunewald, daughter; Colleen Burns-Hall and brother; John DeAngelo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich at 10am meeting directly at church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 6pm – 8pm at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT.
