Mrs. Marie H. Hoagland Montie

She was the wife of the late William G. Montie. They were married on October 11, 1940 in Willimantic. He predeceased her on June 27, 1993.

Born January 2, 1921 in Norwich, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Bill) Hoagland. Marie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1938. Marie's passion and joy in life were her family and the children that she loved and cared for in the TVCCA's Foster Grandparent Program. She joined the TVCCA program in 1984 and faithfully and lovingly served as a foster grandmother to 100's of children until her retirement from the program in 2006 at the age of 85. She served in the program at the Wequonnoc School in Taftville, the Norwich Free Academy Child Development Program, the Thames River Child Development Center in Norwich and the Head Start Ken Gundermann Center in Taftville.

Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three sons, William Montie and his wife Mary of Colorado Springs, CO, Douglas Montie and his wife Barbara of Norwich and James H. Montie of Norwich; a brother Vincent Hoagland of Norwich; a sister Natalie Willis of Westbrook; a grandson Dr. Dwayne D. Montie and his wife Sandra and their daughter Emma of Palm City, FL; granddaughter Melissa (Montie) and her husband Kevin Devolve and their sons, Noah and Benjamin of Colorado Springs, CO. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard Hoagland of Norwich.

There are no calling hours and the funeral will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Taftville Volunteer Fire Department, Providence St., Taftville, CT 06380.
