

He was born in Norwich, CT to Oliver E. and Louise M. (Norman) Nylen. He enlisted in the US Navy
where he served for 22 years until Honorable Discharge. Upon retiring from the military he went to
work for at the Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford for another 20 years until his retirement
from there.
Mike enjoyed country living, tending to his gardens, and raising animals. He was a fan of baseball, a
crafty hobbyist mechanic, and had a special love for folk music, especially John Prine.
Michael is survived by his sons; Matthew and Justin Nylen, daughter; Heather Lavigne, brothers; William
O. Nylen and Edward Daley, sister; Virginia M. Gregor of CA, his former wife; Susan Nylen and several
nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, December 12th at 10am at the CT Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. The Labenski Funeral Home in Norwich is assisting with these arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Doris Muller Memorial Scholarship Fund; a
