I died on Thursday. I wasn’t ready to go; but I didn’t have any choice. I’ve had the most wonderful life – the only child of Viola and William Buddington – born on Eighth Street in the Buddington home. We’ve lived there since the 1890’s. The house was built in 1840.
After graduating Willimantic State Teacher College (now Eastern), I moved to Greenwich CT to teach at the Cos Cob School. From there I went to teach at Teacher’s College, Columbia University and then back to Greenwich to the North Mianus School.
I loved teaching and Greenwich – the best – and I earned a B.S., M.A. and a 6th year certificate all in Early Childhood Education. I kept busy with educational work and traveling around the world. After retiring with 37 years, I came back to Norwich to be with my father who lived to be 92, more community work and politics.
I repeat, I’ve had a wonderful life, met many wonderful people and enjoyed myself tremendously. Sorry I had to go. Thank you to all those wonderful people. Love ya – Olive
