Patricia Maureen Coyle Adams

Norwich - Patricia Maureen Coyle Adams, age 73, of Norwich, passed away at William W. Backus Hospital on January 31, 2023. She was born in Flushing, NY in the Spring of 1949 to the late Thomas and Mary (Parsons) Coyle. She married Daniel Francis Adams in 1972 in Woodside, NY. He survives her.

Besides her loving husband she is survived by her daughters Christine, Jennifer, and Kathleen; son-in-law Gregory Jones; her sister, Catherine Coyle Lee; numerous beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her son, Thomas Daniel Adams, predeceased her in 2003.

A graduate of both Hunter College High School (‘66) and Hunter College (‘70), she began her adult life as an actuary for MetLife. After moving to Connecticut, she worked at The Hartford and became the firm’s first female officer. Even as she excelled in the actuarial field, her true passion was law. Pat earned her J.D. from UCONN Law School (‘98) and spent the greater part of two decades in the service of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut. Beyond the courtroom, she brought knowledge and skill with her in service of the Norwich Pension Board for several years.

Outside of her professional life she enjoyed sailing and puzzles; whether crosswords and Scrabble, sudoku, or PBS mysteries. Her thirst for knowledge could only be rivaled by her love and devotion to her family.

Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, Broadway, Norwich.
