Paul was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 22, 1944 to the late Theodore and Leela (Richards) Mallon. As soon as he turned 21 in 1965, he followed his life-long desire to help others and became a Connecticut State Trooper. He was drafted from that calling to serve in the Army, went through boot camp, and returned to the duties of enforcing the laws of Connecticut, while continuing in the National guard from which he was Honorably Discharged.
On October 25, 1969 he married, ‘the light of his life’ Andrea (Sorensen) at Our Lady of Lakes church in Oakdale. Together they raised their family and lived in Norwich. Paul loved being a trooper holding many assignments and details close to his heart including being on the first SWAT team, being the longest running resident State Trooper for Montville, heading a Secret Service Detail for then President Bush, and ending his career serving in the Criminal Intelligence Unit in Meriden. He retired after 25 years in October of 1990. After retirement, along with another CSP classmate, he started his own private detective agency and then was hired to help develop a police department at the Mashantucket Pequot reservation where he served for another 10 years ultimately as a Captain on that department. Retirement couldnt keep Paul away for too long and he worked as a Security Officer at Backus Hospital as well. Even with all of the passion and enjoyment for doing what he did, it all paled in comparison to the love he had for his family.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife Andrea, his sons; Theodore John “TJ”, Brett and his wife Diana, sister; Linda Krulwick and her husband Jeff, grandchildren; Jackson Cooper, Mia Marie and Ava Marie, several nieces and nephews, his faithful companion Ranger, and countless other friends and family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT on Saturday, June 22nd at 1pm meeting directly at church. Procession to interment at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich will immediately . As per Paul's request, there are no calling hours.
