

She was born 12/13/32 to Philip (Boisvert) Greenwood, and Doris (Denomme) Greenwood, and went on to become mom, grandma and great grandma extraordinaire, leaving behind a legacy of family activities and life style stories that will entertain her family for generations to come.
She introduced her children to the arts, the joys of gardening, the beach, hikes to Cochegan rock when it was still a random rock in the Montville woods, molasses taffy making, popcorn balls, "Baby Jesus Birthday Cakes', and the pleasures of self-picked blackberries for self-made blackberry pie. She leaves behind a legacy of activities that her children will be reminiscing about for a life time.
Phyllis was born and raised in Norwich and kept her Montville raised children connected to her home town with weekly jaunts to the Beverly Tea Room, the Palace Theater, Mohegan Park and the Slater Museum. Later she made her weekly runs to the Norwich YMCA with a van full of kids for activities of every description. She was active with her children in 4H, raising steer, pigs and chicken, and active with her sons in boy Scouts. Her true passion in life was her family.
She also valued travel and adventure, and enjoyed jaunts with a carload of children, to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. She had the thrilling opportunity to visit Ireland, as well as Hawaii. Phyllis valued education and religion as fundamental cornerstones to life. She dedicated her life to God our Father, and his son, our savior, Jesus Christ. She was a communicant of St. John The Evangelist Church in Montville for decades, serving as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She took art classes whenever the opportunity was available and she returned to night school in the 70's, when she had children in high school, attending night school at Montville High school to attain her GED. Following this she went on to the Huntington Institute in Norwich, and earned a degree in business. From here Phyllis went on to attain employment as Housekeeper to the rectory for St. John The Evangelist Church in Montville, a position she held for 20 years, until her retirement.
Phyllis is survived by her ex-husband and dear friend, Calvin Hosea Heath, her daughters and their spouses, Deborah Heath Palmer, Kathleen Heath, Cynthia Heath, Colleen Heath Okuma and Walter Okuma, Maureen Heath White and Randy White and Eileen Heath Eldridge, her sons and their spouses. Patrick heath, Fredrick Heath, David Heath, Sean Heath Parker and Roger Parker and nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren .She is also survived by her sister Diane Greenwood Culver and her aunt Claire Elizabeth Longo. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister Doris Greenwood Longo, a brother Philip Joseph Greenwood, and a son, Erin Thomas Heath.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT on Tuesday, April 4th at 10am with burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Av., Norwich, CT. There will be a calling hour from 8:30am – 9:30am prior to the Mass at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT. A reception will follow services at the hall behind St. John Church, Maple Ave., Uncasville, CT.
