Phyllis Wigfield

She was born in Norwich, CT on January 28, 1948 to the late Paul and Elsie (Airey) Pounch. She graduated from N.F.A. in 1965, and then in 1968 from L & M School of Nursing. She worked as a surgical nurse at Backus Hospital for a number of years and enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers which she did professionally at both Johnsons Florist and Mohegan Florist, and taught flower arranging at the Norwich Senior Center.

In 1970 she married her beloved husband David Wigfield Sr., at Park Congregational Church in Norwich. He survives her. Together they raised their family and enjoyed time spent together, especially at Halloween and sitting on the deck of their house overlooking the lake.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, sons; David Wigfield Jr., and his wife Beth, and Jason Wigfield and his wife Tracy, grandchildren; Nicholas, Catherine, Andrew and Emily Wigfield. She was predeceased by her brother Paul.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11am at Church & Allen Funeral home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT with a calling hour one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
