Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked as an independent stone mason. Richard had a passion for fishing and gardening.
He is survived by a daughter Dawn Cooley and her husband Manuel Stone III of North Franklin, a son Shaun Cooley of Norwich and a daughter Krystyna Cooley of Bozrah. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Christian Cooley, Da’Vaughn Stone, Carter Stone, Greyson Cooley, Justin Daniels, Colin Clerkin and Trinity Clerkin. Richard is predeceased by his brother Robert Cooley and sister Nancy Pike.
