What do five daughters say about the best man in the world, their father, Robert "Bob" "Dad" "Bumpa" Chiasson. We have never met a man so deserving of good fortune. Throughout our childhood he never raised his voice, never swore in front of us, and he taught us that we had to work hard in order to move forward in life. Dad started working at Malerba's Farm when he was 9 years old and never stopped working. He worked 2 to 3 jobs while raising his family and always made sure he provided for his girls. Dad was in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army reserves and retired from the Norwich State Hospital and the Norwich Bulletin. Dad was a loving and doting "Bumpa", an avid outdoorsman, camper, superb trout and fly fisherman, bird watcher, wood splitter, gardener, cook, casino lover, and a huge baseball fan, specifically the New York Yankees. He was a lover of life who thought too much technology would ruin the world.
Dad had the absolute best sense of humor and continued to joke and laugh right up until the end. There isn't anything his daughters wouldn't do for him and we all know he did everything in the world for us. Our Dad was dedicated to taking care of his disabled daughter, Sandra (aka “Thelma” to his “Louise”) , and always placed her needs before his. He was married for 56 years to Christine, who predeceased him in 2016. They raised five girls and leave behind Judith Paradis (David) of Norwich, Robin Hay of Norwich, Jill Woodmansee (Dell) of Preston, Susan Edwards (Bill) of Babcock Ranch, Florida, and Sandra Chiasson of Norwich.
Dad loved ALL his grands and leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren (Stephanie, Sara, Kristi, Brittany, Katie, Danielle, Brandon, Taylor, Josh, Jessica, Lex, Thomas, Cameron, Brianna, Josie, Samuel, Allison, CJ and Sadie).
Dad also leaves behind sisters Theresa Mastalerz, Anna Tron, brothers Augustin Chiasson, John Chiasson, and David Chiasson. He is predeceased by siblings: Shirley Boucher, Anita LaFond, Jeannette Willey, Alphonse Lantiegne, Albert Lantiegne, Geraldine Grenon, Cecile Gromko, Rita Kirk, Eva Chiasson, Jimmy Chiasson, and Thomas Chiasson.
