Vince and I became friends during the Bradley's 2013 production of "Dracula" (him as Renfield, me as the Count). Hiding behind the flats on stage at Killingly High School during rehearsals and shows, we'd joke about some of the 1920s play's cheesy  (by 2013 lights) dialogue and situations. At the time, I was also working on a radio theater version of "A Christmas Carol" for WHUS. Unfortunately, I had no roles left for Vince to play in that show. But he took part in the next radio theater production I organized, "Three Sisters," and was in every subsequent production (eight in all). I'm flattered and heartened that his photo on his Facebook page was one taken during a rehearsal of one of our radio shows. Others have commented on how dedicated he was to friends, how generous and kind and understanding he was, and all of this is true. As Vince would have said, he's good people. His sudden death was shocking, and I'm still coming to grips with the prospect of life without this person who had become not just a theatrical collaborator, but a close friend and confidant.  As another friend said elsewhere, there is no universe in which the early and sudden death of someone so good and talented makes sense.

I am very saddened and shocked of Vince's passing. We had worked together in the mailroom and print shop during my training period at RTX.  I found him to be a great person with a unique personality. We got along well and shared moments of laughter. He'll be truly missed.

I met Vince a few years ago when we performed The Unexpected Guest  at the Bradley Playhouse.  The play began with twenty-one pages of dialogue just between me and Vince.  It was A LOT of talking...a lot.  I don't think I've ever trusted a fellow actor as much as I trusted Vince.   He was always present with me onstage, 100%.  We made mistakes and sometimes skipped around our lines, but we had each other's backs and always found our way back together.   Vince exhibited the same attributes offstage as he did onstage.  He was someone you could trust.  He was always present and in the moment.  He was kind and giving.  I am incredibly grateful that I shared that theater experience with Vince and that we became friends.  My life is better for having known him. Our world has lost a wonderful man and a beautiful soul.  I offer my heartfelt and sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I also first met Vince doing shows at the Bradley. I was fortunate enough to attend the wedding to his beautiful wife and my wife and I considered ourselves lucky to be their friends. What was to us really special was the fact that They would drive up here to the “North Country” to visit for a weekend. I will miss You my Friend.

What makes a hero?
It's a guy who takes the newbie elf kid under his wing in a production of the Hobbit. A move that lead to a 20+ year friendship. 

I've written so many words with Vince, but I'm struggling to find the words to cover how much of a loss this is. How much of a difference Vince made in my life. 

We had worked on story as always the night prior, so let me share his words, the last story piece he wrote:

Bev tapped a pencil on her microphone to draw focus. “I for one don't wish to disappoint Cres,” she began with a faint smile. “I fear the consequences. Besides, I try not to correct my friends when they're right. Therefore, if our righteous quest leads us to the darkened lands once more, let us not fail for faint hearts! Come the morning, the alicanto and Lynn Woods itself await!”

I'm so shocked and sad to hear of Vince's passing. I met him during production of  a Prometheus Theater broadcast. Vince was, of course an outstanding actor, the type you aspire to be as good as one day.  He was also one of those folks you can't help but take an immediate liking to.  Professional, friendly and an easy going gentleman. I'd always hoped to work with him again. I'm so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences.

I knew Vince for many years at UTC.   And I am forever grateful that our paths crossed.  The last time I saw him in person was in August.  We bantered back and forth (he was a master at it!), laughed and wished each other well.  I concur with all who have said that Vince had a quick wit and was extremely funny. 
The last email exchange was in November with Vince sharing some news about his new job.  I was so happy for him.  I too like Sci-Fi and he suggested I watch a series called "Fringe".   And told me about the play he had done in October in Putnam, CT.  He always lit up when he spoke about theater.  It clearly brought joy to his life.  
From all the condolences I have read the theme is joy.  What a special person to be able to bring joy to so many people.
I am still in shock as I write this.  I will continue to pray for Vince's wife, family and friends.

I met Vince at Windam Theatre Guild’s production of A NICE FAMILY GATHERING by a Minnesota play write,  Phil Olson. As a newly married Minnesota transplant, I was there to watch how my husband, Jim Hetrick, developed a character. Vince had  a brilliant mind with an intuitive spirit that shined through not just in his delivery of the lines but in his genuinely believable reactions to the others on stage.  Behind the scenes he was so generous with his time, encouraging others and lifting their spirits. He made me feel part of the process as he listened to my Minnesota stories to explain some of his more obscure lines. Later on, his generous soul always made time not just to say hello but also to share a story or two. 

May all who are in mourning feel the joy and gratitude of all who knew Vince. May our shared memories bring some comfort to his wife, his family, his coworkers, and his friends.

I'm so sad to hear of Vince's passing.  We were in a few shows together at the Bradley. He spoke so fondly of his wife and was full of life, humor and kindness.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  He will be so missed by our theater community. 

I'm so incredibly shocked to learn of Vince's passing, I worked with Vince at UTC/C&W Services for some time and he was always very helpful and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. I am so sad to have learned of Vince’s passing.  I worked with him at UTC Corporate.  He was such an amazing individual – honest, helpful and funny.  I saw some of the plays he was in – he was amazing.  The first play I saw him in was “Dracula” in Putnam, CT.  He played Renfield.  I went with one of my sisters.  My sister and I both agreed that Vince made the show (somehow this thought puts a smile on my face).  I didn’t keep in touch with Vince after leaving Corporate, but he has had a definite impact on my life.  My prayers are with Vince’s family.

The memory of your last words to me and the smile on your face will be etched in my memory. We chatted, you smiled and said "you take care of yourself Naomi". Well now it is my turn to say, rest easy and know that your impact on your colleagues, friends, family is eternal.

I met Vince on my very first day, back in August.  Right off the bat, he was humorous & full of personality.  He has sort of been a mentor to me, as he briefly trained me, helped answer a bunch of questions, and his emails were always sprinkled with jokes.  I am shocked and saddened.  I only knew him a short time, but he made a positive impact.  My heart goes out to all his family and friends.

I'm saddened and surprised by Vince's passing. He was a joy to work with for the last 8+ years and will be missed by anyone he interacted with.  His laugh and smile were contagious. I had the privilege of taking his picture and the honor of knowing him.  He will be missed.


It was a pleasure working with you and getting to know you. That grin, the dry sense of humor, the love for your wife and cats, your love for the theater. I am in shock right now as I write this, so young, so full of life. It is a very sad day for your RTX/UTC and C&W Services family.  May you enjoy and take part in all the theater shows in heaven.

Your plans were cut short but the time we spent together will never be forgotten. From the day I first met you we hit it off. The hours spent (of course on company time) discussing anything and everyone will be missed. Even when I moved to another site you scheduled lunch time at Chili's every few months.

When I wrote to you a couple of weeks ago my last sentence said, "You have always been that beacon of common sense and wit that I looked forward to. I will miss you greatly."  
I never knew it would be the last thing you read from me. I'm glad I wrote. 

I may have only known Vince for two years, but every single day he was always there in the mail room with a smile.  

When i learned of his passing today i am absolutely shocked.

May he rest in peace. 

Goodbye Good Sir, we will meet again someday in the great beyond.

I definitely did not know you as long as I wish I had.  Such an amazing person, you will be missed.

We all were better for knowing you.  You had that quirky humor that a few of us understood and enjoyed and a smile that warmed a room.  You were always there to help us when needed and never complained or said NO.  You were also a true gentleman.  So glad we got to see you in many of your plays - you were amazing on stage. I worked with Vince for the past 7 years, right up until last Wednesday. We had a lot of laughs together over the years and he was a really great guy. I am in complete shock right now. 

My condolences go out to his loved ones. Vince will definitely be missed by all who knew him. It's a terrible tragedy.

Vince was always a joy to work with on stage. He was intelligent, witty, kind, humble yet so talented. I was lucky enough to work with Vince on several shows, but nothing compares to his work on Christmas Story. He brought Jean Shepherd to life, with the perfect mix of nostalgia and dry humor. My father was a huge Jean Shepherd fan and after the show he shook Vince’s hand and said, “You WERE Jean Shepherd.” We were up against so much in that show, and yet we were a huge success, not in small part due to Vince. Everything he was a part of was better for him being there. He was also such a kind and decent man. I was lucky enough to call him my friend. My heart goes out to his family and friends. 

Rest in peace, my sweet friend. As we would say right before curtain, “I’ll see you in the other side.” 

Anyone who had the good fortune to know Vince was better for it. He was one of the kindest and brightest souls I’ve ever met and we quickly connected over a shared love of theater. We’d always greet each other the same goofy way, “Peace and pie unto you, good sir.” I’ll miss his warmth and the way he could instantly make a stranger feel like family. He was special in so many ways. We lost a truly remarkable person but I’m so much better for my brief time with Vince. Until we’re able to share a table together, peace and pie unto you, good sir ❤️

Vince was such a kind person and a huge talent on stage and on air. I had the pleasure of performing with him on the radio and directing him in a show.  He will be sorely missed. Heartfelt condolences  to his family.

Vince has been a treasured and beloved member of our Bradley Playhouse family.  I was heartbroken to hear of of this talented, kind and compassionate man’s passing.  I was in many shows with him and recently worked with him in our fall show this year.  One of his props was a watch that “fit perfectly” according to Vince.  When cleaning my bag yesterday to prepare for our winter show I found that watch and thought of him, moments before I read the sad news. The local theater community has lost a treasured member of our family. Vince's cheery disposition, dry intellectual humor, incredible work ethic, and considerable talent have made him a favorite and often sought-after actor. I had the privilege of working with him on many productions over the years and considered him a dear friend. On more than one occasion, I called on Vince to fill a role on short notice, and he always came through and brought the show to a new level. He will be remembered for his hearty laugh, warm smile and the mischievous twinkle in  his eye. My heart is broken, dear friend . I promise that you will live on in our memories and never be forgotten!

Vince and I recently were in the Bradley Theatre’s production of, “Night of the Living Dead. He played my husband Harry Cooper. He is an amazing person with tremendous talent. It was a pleasure to get to know. He always had a way of helping me feel less anxious before we went on stage. My condolences to his family. 

Vince was one of the best. I have had the privilege to direct him in a number of Bradley shows.   He was the consummate professional both on and offstage. Always ready to help in any way, he will be deeply missed. My condolences to his family. 

Vince and I took Russian together at NFA. He was always a wonderful person to talk with and was one of the smartest, kindest people I've ever met.
