He was born November 7, 1949 in Washington, D.C., the oldest son of the late Dr. Walter S. and Dorothy M. (Emerick) Mozden.
He was a graduate of Monson Academy in MA, and then earned a Bachelors Degree at Alliance College in Pennsylvania. After college, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a Corpsman. After his service to our country, he went to work at Russo Opticians in Norwich until opening Mozden Optical on clinic drive in Norwich. He married Sharon (Paradis) May 11, 1974 at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. She survives him.
Walter was an avid skier and enjoyed spending time at his cottage in New Hampshire. He was known for tinkering in the garage and could fix anything that needed repair. He was an avid woodworker and gardener.
Walt was a kind and gentle man. He always offered to help anyone. He loved animals...there wasn't a stray cat that wandered into his yard that wasn't fed.
He never sought to be the center of attention and always rooted for the underdog. Whenever anything broke, Chris always said "dad can fix anything", and he could.
In addition to his loving wife Sharon, he is survived by his son Christopher and his wife Natasha of Griswold, by his siblings Catherine Mozden Lewis and husband Tom of West Virginia, Annterese Mozden Thropp and husband Bart of Virginia, Mark Mozden of Oregon, Elizabeth Mozden Weiner and husband Nick of Washington, DC, and by 8 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Dottie and Marie.
