Mr. Winston S. Dean

Winston was born on June 14, 1937 in Milo, ME to the late Leo M. and Eileen E. (Smith) Dean. He graduated from NFA, attended UCONN, and served in the US Air Force. On May 26, 1962 he married his beloved wife, Judith (Spence) at the United Congregational Church in Norwich. He worked the majority of his life as a Civil Engineer for the State of CT D.O.T. until his retirement in 1992 last holding the position of Design Supervisor of Hydraulics and Drainage.

He enjoyed being very active in the community holding varied offices with town politics in Bozrah, Scouting, Tuckerbung Assoc. Inc, United Congregational Church, Park Congregational Church, and Bozrah Center Congregational Church. Winston was deeply involved with the Masons, holding a multitude of positions. Most notably he was District Deputy of District 8A and was awarded the highest honor of 33° in Scottish Rite Masonry in 2010. Win also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, camping, travel, and playing cribbage.

Winston is survived by his wife Judith, sons; Jason W. Dean and his wife Elizabeth of Swanzey, NH, Jonathan L. Dean and his partner Gib Lamoureaux of Niantic, CT, Matthew T. Dean of Bozrah, CT, a brother; Robert Dean and his wife Doris of Brooksville, FL and countless friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5pm – 8pm at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT with Masonic Services rendered at 7:30pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
