

Dolores I. Leahy, 96, of Norwich, passed away on November 30, 2025. She was born in Bainbridge on February 16, 1929, to Ludwig and Dorothy (Shaver) Michel. One of 11 children born to Ludwig and Dorothy, she spent her early life in Bainbridge, and upon graduation in 1947 she moved to Norwich and began working at the Norwich Knitting Mill. On July 5, 1952, Dolores married the love of her life, Thomas F. Leahy, in Norwich, where they remained for the rest of their lives. Dolores and Tom enjoyed traveling, especially in their retirement, to visit her out-of-state siblings. Over the past several years, Dolores was known in her neighborhood for her variety of inflatable lawn decorations which changed with the seasons, keeping an eye on her neighborhood, decorating her home, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Thomas F. Leahy (2020); her infant sisters, Ruth and Diane Michel; her brothers, Albert Michel, and Robert Michel; her sisters, Joan Tansey, Marie Searles, and Eleanor Gloeckler. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Deanna), James (Jacqueline) and her grandson William, all of Norwich. Her sisters, Marion Brown, of Florida, Emily Leahy, of Tennessee, and Karen Campbell, of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Dolores’ request, there will be no formal funeral services. She will be laid to rest beside Thomas in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
