Gerald A Barnes

Jerry was born in Norwich on July 2, 1953 the son of Richard and Betty (Humphrey) Barnes. He grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich High School. He continued his education by attending Morrisville College where he earned his Associates Degree. In his early working career he was employed by Victory Markets where he worked in the warehouse. He had also been employed by De-Tec Limousine as a driver and also Chenango Valley Travel and later Ambassador Travel.

A man with a quick wit he could be known as quite a jokester. Jerry enjoyed a good game of cards, traveling to Las Vegas and was an avid NY Giants Fan. He was a lover of animals especially his cat “Boy”.

Jerry is survived by his mother Betty (Humphrey) Barnes of Norwich, his siblings Lisa (Kevin) Kerr of Norwich, Sandra Carlson of San Diego, CA, and James (Brenda) Barnes of Norwich. Also surviving is his Aunt Mary Barnes of New Berlin, his Uncle Clayton Barnes of Norwich, his sister-in-law Cheryl Barnes of Rochester, 8 nieces and nephews, several cousins and his dear friend and health care aide Brandi Nelson.

Jerry was predeceased by his father Richard W. Barnes, his brother Richard T. Barnes, and nephew Adam Barnes.

A service for Jerry will be held on Friday, November 29, at Noon from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service at Noon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
