Guy Eugene Beckwith, 68 of Plymouth, N.Y. passed away, after fighting covid and pneumonia, on Friday February 11, 2022 at PAM Health Specialty Hospital in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania with his beloved sons at his side.
Guy was born on May 7, 1953 in the town of Norwich, N.Y. He was the son of EuGene and Carole Beckwith.
Guy had his own business in Plymouth known as “Guy’s Auto” for several years. Scott Will was Guy’s right hand man for 17 years. Guy had customers from near and far at his garage. He also had a fabulous side kick and his buddy Dan Meyer. Guy’s customers were always very loyal to Guy as Guy was to his customers. He had numerous other jobs prior to opening his shop.
Even Though Guy was a hard worker his other interests were snowmobiling, bowling, golfing, and 4 wheeling. He could be found hooking and unhooking the weight sled at the Chenango County Fair during the tractor pulls. He and his family spent time building and pulling tractors over the years. This love of tractors started from his younger years growing up on the family farm in Plymouth.
Guy took great enjoyment in building his pride and joy tractor, the “Dirt Rat” which was his modified pulling tractor. He had many successful pulling seasons and between 1984 and 1990 he won several NTPA awards. He also enjoyed hunting and Nascar Racing.
Guy had a huge heart and helped many local organizations that were important to him, such as his grandchildren's sports teams, race cars, shop with the sheriff, and many other causes that were important to him.
Guy was a huge, NY Giants, NY Yankees and Syracuse fan. Guy is survived by his girlfriend Julie Simoncic. Guy’s four sons, Doug (Jeana) O’Hara, Lance O’Hara (Stu), Chad O’Hara (Jill), and Patrick Shaver (Lindsay). Guy’s 6 siblings, Nancy Davis (Patty), Steve (Sharlene), Sue Buckley (Bill), Karen Scrivener (Mitch), Tab (Vonna) Aaron (Bert) (Melinda). Many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and grandchildren.
Guy is preceded by his father, EuGene Charles Beckwith, and mother Carole Monyene Beckwith, niece Michele Reed, and Lena Beckwith.
We would like to thank CMH ICU, Wilson Hospital and PAM Health Specialty Hospital for the special care given to Guy through his illness.
