James T Williams 62, of Norwich, NY passed away peacefully September 7, 2022. Jim was born November 1, 1959, in Carbondale, PA, the youngest son of Thomas/Tucker and Elizabeth/Betty (Gliha) Williams. Jim attended Forest City Regional Schools and then graduated from Johnson Trade School with a major in carpentry and cabinetmaking. He spent the majority of his working career with Frontier Communications in Sherburne, NY.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends. Being a good neighbor, he was never too busy to offer advice or a helping hand and his generosity was certainly reciprocated. His passions included woodworking (a very talented craftsman), gardening, snowmobiling, skiing, and perfecting his yard and pool into a backyard paradise for his wife, Janet, family, friends and neighbors.
Jim was devoted to his wife, Janet and daughter, Makenzie. They were a closely knit family who treasured each other and their beloved cat Leo and did everything together.
Recently, Jim and Janet along with the parents, Jeff and Carla, of their daughter’s fiancé took on the project of building a tiny house for Makenzie and her fiancé, Josh Clement. It was Jim’s goal to complete this project when he was suddenly stricken with lung cancer.
Being the strong individual that he was, he continued working on this project until a week before he passed away.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet (Kozlevcar) Williams, daughter, Makenzie and fiancé, Josh, of Stockbridge, VT and three brothers, Thomas (wife Karen) of Hilton Head, SC, Fred (wife Carol) of Nicholson, PA, and Jack (wife Laura) of Poughkeepsie, NY, a brother-in-law, Bill Kozlevcar (wife Barb) of Forest City, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place at 4:00pm on Saturday September 17, 2022, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:30pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date at Norwich Quarter Cemetery.
