
Julius Etzl, 82, of Norwich, passed away on December 28, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1941 in Magyarpolany, Hungary and immigrated to the USA in 1957. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marta Muha Etzl, of Norwich; his son, George Julius Etzl, of Oneonta; his daughter, Erika Marta Etzl-Calhoun (Michael), of Norwich; his grandchildren, Abigail Maria Calhoun, Emily Rose Calhoun, Alexander George Etzl, Caitlin Sunshine Etzl, and Lucas George Etzl; as well as his brother, Eugene (Irene) Etzl, of Bayside, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Kelemen and Teresa Etzl.
Julius served in the US Army from 1960-1962 and was a member of the New York City Council of Carpenters until his retirement in 2000.
Funeral services for Julius will take place at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. with Fr. Ralph A. Bove officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until the time of service.
