

Leroy C. Christophersen, 78, of Mt. Upton, passed away on January 5, 2026. Leroy was born in Bainbridge, NY on December 8, 1947, grew up in Unadilla and upon graduating high school, he served his country honorably and proudly during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army, Leroy spent time in the Western states as a ranch hand and working in the oil fields. He returned home to Chenango County where he made his living as a heavy equipment operator for the Chenango County Highway Department retiring after over 20 years of service. He also owned and operated Roy’s Custom Archery and was well known for his precision custom made bows and arrows. Among his other talents, Leroy was a master welder and fabricator, a rebuilder of classic cars and an outdoor sports enthusiast. He will also be remembered for his love of his Bassett hounds and his unique sense of humor.
Leroy leaves behind his lifelong partner, Robin Winchester; his step-daughter, Casey Peck; his son, Clint and Heidi Christophersen; his daughter, Erin Christophersen; two grandchildren; his siblings, Barry and Kathy Christophersen, Pamela Kell, Pete and Kathy Christophersen, Karen Thompson and Louie Ives, Sue and Red Boyce, Patty and Bill Castaldy, and Warren and Cindy Christophersen; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Reno and Jeanette Rutenber, and Varnold and Kathy Slade.
Leroy was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lillian Christophersen; and his siblings, Allan Christophersen, Denny Christophersen, Brenda Enfield, Timothy Christophersen, Judy Henchey, Lisa Abby, and Desi Gladin.
