

Louise Gesine Pike, age 93, peacefully entered heaven on January 26, 2025, following a gradual decline in health. Louise was born November 6, 1931, in North Dakota to John and Grietje Meyer, one of seven children and one of a set of fraternal twins. While Louise was still very young, the family moved to the Oxford area of New York. Louise was active on her parents’ farm along with her siblings. She participated in 4-H and earned many awards, while developing a strong work ethic. In 1949, Louise graduated from Oxford Central School. The next year she met and married Thomas Carle Pike, aka Carle. Their devotion to one another was unbreakable.
Together Louise and Carle successfully farmed, and for many years Louise also worked for an insurance company as a secretary. Louise was generous, kind-hearted, frugal, and industrious. She was skilled in the culinary arts and was known for her homemade rolls. Family had a special spot in her heart, and Louise actively gathered everyone together for special occasions as often as possible. Being a longtime member of Holmesville Baptist Church, Louise served in the choir, taught children, helped with church dinners, and exhibited warm hospitality. After retirement Louise enjoyed traveling with Carle.
Louise is survived by two daughters, Audrey Burman and Joanne Pike; her grandchildren, Kevin Roofner, Dawn Williams, Amanda Ansel, Jeremy Burman, Jessica Doolittle, and Jason Cooley; 19 great grandchildren; her sister, Arlene Carkhuff; her brother, John Meyer; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Meyer; She was predeceased by her husband, Carle; her eldest daughter, Susan Roofner, conjoined twins, Dawn Marie and Donna Lee; her grandson, Ryan Roofner; and her siblings, Agnes Rowe, Albert Meyer, Lois Crandall, and Harold Meyer.
Visitation will be held A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Holmesville Baptist Church, 3024 NY-8, Holmesville. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in the spring at North Norwich Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich, or gifts in memory of Louise may be made to Holmesville Baptist Church, 3024 NY-8, South New Berlin, NY 13843.
