Martha J. Rogers

Mrs. Martha J. Rogers, 92, of South Plymouth, passed away Tuesday May 16, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living, Burlington, NC. She was born February 21, 1931 in Norwich, the daughter of G. Roger and Maud Jones. Martha was raised in the North Norwich area and was a resident of South Plymouth most of her life. She married Walter O. “Bunky” Rogers on June 6th 1949. Walter predeceased her on July 28, 2013 at their home in South Plymouth. Martha “Chicken” was employed by Norwich Pharmaceutical’s for 19 years before joining Walter’s insurance business. Her favorite pastimes included reading, golf, and traveling. Walter and Martha together were very active in the community, involved with scouting (associated with Troop 62 Norwich), Norwich Rotary Club and the Chenango County Historical Society. Martha loved camping and traveling with Walter whether across country in their motorhome or going abroad to Germany, Scotland and other locations.

Martha is survived by her sons and their spouses, James and Rhonda Rogers, of New York, NY, Mark and Elke Rogers, of Burlington, NC, and Craig and Maryann Rogers, of Little Ferry, NJ; her grandchildren, Chris Rogers, of Seattle, Margaux Rogers, of Philadelphia PA, Richard Rogers, of New York, NY, James Rogers and wife Maria, of Wayne NJ, Craig Rogers, of Rockaway NJ, Nicholas Rogers and wife Stephanie, of Little Ferry NJ; her great grandchildren, Conner, Brianna, James, Colton, Oakley, Nicolas, and Benjamin; her brothers and sisters, Leonard and Arlene Jones, of North Norwich NY, G.R. Jr. and Judy Jones, of Eminence, MO, Esther and Tom White, of Portland, ME. Martha was predeceased by her sons Bruce and Lee, her brother, Ray Jones and her sister, Eleanor Riesen.

A graveside service for Martha will take place at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 25th, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich.
