

She was born on August 23, 1934 in Greene, NY the daughter of Walter and Eva Marguerite (Cardner) Weishaupt. On July 24, 1954, she married Guy Stephen Lougheed. She is survived by her children, William Walter Lougheed and his wife Vicki (Chapin) of Plant City, FL, Therese Marie Hitchcock and husband Peter of Plymouth, NY. Her grandchildren Natashia Bryne (Smith) DeLee, NY, Scott Howard Genschaw, Jr. of California, Leshia Marie Hitchcock, Lynn Anne Hitchcock Stone and husband Michael of New York. She is survived by several great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. She has one surviving brother Paul Joseph Weishaupt and his wife Sandra (Schuck) of Sierra Vista, Az. She is predeceased by two daughters Mary Lougheed and Anne Kathryn Genschaw, her parents, a brother Walter Anton Weishaupt, Jr., a granddaughter Billie Jo Hitchcock and grandson Samuel Anton Lougheed.
A longtime resident of Oxford, she attended Oxford Academy and Central school, graduating in 1952. Graduate and post-graduate works were completed at the State University of New York at Cortland and New Paltz, and Colgate University. She spent thirty one years in the field of education, beginning as a teacher in her home school of Oxford in 1963 and Principal/Supervisor in the Otselic Valley school in 1970 thru 1977. In 1977 she became one of the first women Superintendents of School in New York when she received appointment in the Grand Gorge Central School and then Florida NY Union Free Schools 1979 thru 1987. She retired in 1995 as Associate in Migrant/Disadvantaged Education and Member of the Buffalo Field Service Team with the New York State Educational Department. During her career, she was a member of various professional organizations including the New York State Teachers Association, New York State Council of School Administrators, the New York State School Boards Association serving on related State, regional, and local committees. Returning to Oxford at retirement, she devoted her time to the care of her mother and father prior to their passing in 2001 and 2002, respectively, and volunteer activities: American Red Cross, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, Oxford Common Cents Thrift Shop, Norwich Home Bureau and the Norwich Guernsey Library.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on February 25, 2025 11:00am at St. Bart’s Catholic Church, Norwich, NY. A burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
