Michael VanPelt

Mike was born in Norwich on December 23, 1972 the son of John L. and Deanna (Gay) VanPelt. Mike graduated from the Norwich High School in 1991 and went onto Delhi Tech College. He worked at Nearing Dodge and then moved on to Quad Cities, IL where he worked at McLaughlin Body, a division of John Deere as an advanced senior welder.

Mike had a motorcycle accident in Moline and subsequently lost his leg, he then moved back to Norwich where he has a loving family, cousins, aunts, uncles and a couple of very devoted friends. He enjoyed dirt bike riding, motorcycling, fishing, boating, hunting and camping with his friends. His trip to Venice, his Panama Canal Cruise and other travel was special to him.

Mike is survived by his son Jonathon M. Van Pelt who is 18 and a graduate of Moline High School, his mom and step-dad Deanna and Gary Thorne of Norwich, his former wife Julie Brumbaugh along with aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mike was predeceased by his father John L. Van Pelt.

A funeral service for Mike will be held on Monday, August 9, at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Mary Rublee, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich will officiate. Family and friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from Noon until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
