
Neil was born in McDonough on Feb. 10, 1933 the son of Joseph and Frances Ingham Mead. He grew up in the McDonough area and attended school in McDonough, Oxford and Guilford. A veteran of the United States Army he served his country during the Korean War. On May 17, 1953 he married Phyllis Mead who survives.
Neil had worked on area farms for most of his life and also had worked for Victory Markets, Ford Homes and the New York State Veterans Home from which he retired.
Neil is survvied by his wife Phyllis of McDonough, his children; Diane (Terry) Oary of Hagerstown, MD, Ivan Mead of McDonough, Vickie (Eugene) Vigus of Oxford, Dennis (Kathleen) Mead of McDonough, Penny (Ken) Baxter also of McDonough, Patricia (David) Murray of Falmouth, KY, Carol (Jim) Master of Cabot, AR. and Timothy (Patricia) Mead of McDonough. Also survivng is his twin sister Nona Caravello of NJ, 27 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Neil was preceded in death by his brothers Hiram and Louis Mead.
Funeral services for Neil will be held on Tuesday, April 10, at 11:30 am from the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich. The Rev. Brian Conover, Pastor, will offiicate.
Friends may call at the Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday from 10 - 11:30 am.
Interment with full military rites will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday from the Bennett Cemetry in West Laurens.
