Nelson L. Park

Nelson L. Park, 77, of Otego, NY passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2021 at his home in Otego. Nelson was born in North Norwich on October 13, 1943 the son of Howard and Doris (Steward) Park. He grew up in the North Norwich and Sherburne area and attended the Sherburne Central School.

On October 5, 1985 in Norwich he married Linda Robinson. Following their marriage they made their home in Norwich before moving to Gilbertsville where they lived for 30 years. While living in Gilbertsville he was a member of the Gilbertsville Baptist Church and a member of the church’s governing board. He was also a past member of the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad where he served as an EMT and was a member of the Butternut Valley Grange.

Nelson and Linda have made their home in Otego for 4 years and he was the Chaplain at A.O. Fox Hospital for 12 years. He was a member of the NYS Baptist Men and was a past President of the group.

Nelson had been employed by the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney as a machinist for 28 years.

In his leisure time Nelson enjoyed his hunting and camping.

Nelson is survived by his wife Linda of Otego, children Dawn Thomas of Norwich, Amy Ridgeway of FL, Todd (Colleen) Park of GA, step-children Laura (Roland) Card of VA, Greg Haggerty of So. New Berlin, Sharon (Mark) Brannick of Gilbertsville and Diana (Alex) Gracias of Oneonta. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nelson was predeceased by his daughter Becky and his siblings Marie Maynard, Janette Smith, Warren Park and Wayne Park.

A family graveside service for Nelson will be held in the spring from the North Norwich Cemetery.

Nelson’s family would like to especially thank Dr. Hughes and Dr. Knight for the excellent care given to him over the years during his illness.
