
Norm was born in East Pharsalia on March 21, 1936 the seventh child of ten to Ervie and Hazel Hackett Bush. He had spent his entire life in the area and attended the Norwich schools.
In his early working career Norm had worked for the O&W Railroad. He later became a well known mechanic and worked for Norwich Implement (John Deere) for over 20 years and Victory Markets for a period of 12 years. Following his so called retirement years, Norm worked in the area as a self-employed mechanic. It might best be said that he was a jack of all trades.
Norm’s leisure time was spent camping, enjoying NASCAR Racing and taking care of his antique tractor’s.
On Nov. 18, 1957 in Norwich he married Joyce Salisbury who passed away Nov. 14, 1994.
Norm is survived by his fiancee Mildred (Mick) Manwarren of Smyrna, his children Linda Meyer and husband Stan of Plymouth, Brenda Slate and husband Tom of No. Pharsalia, Kevin Bush of AL, Kelvin Bush and wife Lisa McLaury-Bush of Preston, his fiancee’s children Susan DeRochie and husband Brian of New Woodstock, Mark Manwarren and wife Melissa of Morrisville, his sisters and brothers; Sharon (Ken) Benjamin of Oxford, Janet (Ron) Richer of Norwich, Marlin (Linda) Bush of McGraw and Ervie (Doris) Bush of Oxford. Also survivng are his grandchildren; Matthew Meyer, Kristie Worell, Talya Soto, Skie Bush, Christopher Bush, Shawn Bush, Laura Bush, Dakota Bush, Joshua Bush, Aaron Bush, Tyler Bush, Nathaniel, Noah, Jonathan and Josiah DeRochie, Taylor and Shawna Manwarren, his great grandchildren Nevaeha Soto, Emma Meyer and Keanan and Kaleb Smith. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides his wife Joyce, Norm was predeceased by his sisters Elma Spencer, Erma Weaver, Marlene Lenning, Yvonne Angle, Gerald Bush and his great grandson Linkon Meyer.
Funeral services for Norm will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 2:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor David DeLeon of the Open Door Baptist Church of New Woodstock will offiicate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich with Brian DeRochie offering the committal prayers.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 pm.
