Robert M. Collier

Bob was born in No. Norwich on July 8, 1915 the son of Herman & Anna Whaley Collier. He attended school in Sherburne 4 Corners and was a 1933 graduate of the Sherburne High School. For a brief period of time he worked on the family farm and delivered milk. In 1938 he began a longtime employment with Sheffield Products where he worked for 40 years. During that time he worked in several departments and retired in 1978. Following his retirement he worked with his son Bob, enjoyed working around his home and drove for Smith Ford. He and his wife Eleanor enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.

On July 4, 1937 in Cortland he married Eleanor Wilkes who passed away June 20, 2004. Bob is survived by his children Barbara Redenback and husband Dennis of Oxford, Charles Collier and wife Judy of Unadilla and David (Jerry) Collier and wife Patricia of No. Norwich. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, several great & great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Rita Collier along with nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Eleanor, Bob was predeceased his son Robert, his grandson Brian Bates and his brothers Erwin, Eugene (Loris) and Ward Collier.

A funeral service for Bob will be held on Thursday, July 14, at Noon from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will follow in the No. Norwich Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 10-12.
