Sharon S Barrows

Sharon S. Barrows, 72, of Plymouth, went home to rest with her Lord and Savior on January 17th, 2024.Sharon was born in Norwich to the late Paul and Wanda (Phillips) Barrows. She attended Oxford Academy and Central School and went on to make her living as a nurse’s aide. She spent most of her career with the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford, NY and a few of her later years with Broome Developmental Services.

Sharon will be remembered as a fiercely independent person who was kind-hearted and loving to her family with a smile and a joke always at the ready. She had a strong work ethic and was not afraid to take on responsibility. She enjoyed being in nature, observing the changing of seasons, astronomy, bird watching and raising her pets and chickens. She was also interested in raising vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, painting, puzzles, cooking, antiques and the history behind them, as well as being a voracious reader.

Sharon leaves behind her daughters, Tammy Preston, of Norwich, Jerri (Preston) and Tom Goodelle, of Florida, and Cindy (Preston) and Jason Maynard, of Smyrna; her grandsons, Justin Crandall, Joshua Crandall, Ralph and Ashley Stanbrook, Jr., and Cody Warner; her great-grandsons, Jayden Crandall, and Jack Crandall; her brothers, Stanley Barrows, and Bradley and Carolyn Barrows; and her nieces and nephews, Jason Barrows, Stanley Barrows, Jr., Debra Hofmann, Jonathan Sands, and Nathaniel Sands. In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her siblings, Carol (Barrows) Sands, and Paul Barrows, Jr.

At Sharon’s request, there will be no formal funeral services or calling hours. Those wishing may make donations in her memory to the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 33-39 Court St. Norwich, NY 13815.
