Catherine A. McNamee

McNamee, Catherine A., 84, of Falmouth, formerly a longtime resident of Norwood, December 7, 2014. Devoted daughter of the late Mary F. (Manning) and Charles A. McNamee. Beloved sister of Charles S. of Scituate; and loving aunt of Thomas N. of Scituate, Grace and Josh Decker of Missoula, MT; Claire Z. Poole of Mashpee, and Charles A. and Dana Crosby McNamee of Seattle, WA. Great aunt to Ava Miriam Poole, Alden Decker, and Charlie McNamee. She was the dear friend of the late Sumner Ashley and his family. Known as “Kiki” or “Kay,” Catherine graduated from Norwood High School, Class of 1948, and the Hickox School. She worked as a secretary at the Norfolk County Agricultural High School for thirty-five years, retiring to Falmouth in 1986. She served as secretary to the Falmouth Heights-Maravista Improvement Association, volunteered at Ashumet Holly Reservation, and the Home for Little Wanderers. Catherine was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and sodality in Norwood, and St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth. Kiki loved her family and her good friends, and will be remembered for her irrepressible positivity and hospitality, her loyalty to Norwood and devotion to Falmouth, and for her faith, compassion, and independent spirit. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Kay and her family wanted to express gratitude especially to Dana-Farber Cancer Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, JML Care Center Falmouth, and the South Shore VNA and Hospice. Kay also requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St. Watertown, MA, 02472; or to Catholic TV, c/o Father Robert Reed, Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
