

NORWOOD – Frances O’Leary, 93, of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Ms. O’Leary was born on March 26, 1920 and was a lifelong resident of Norwood. She was among the first graduating class of St. Catherine of Siena School and graduated from Norwood High School. Ms. O’Leary worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, as the Executive Secretary for over thirty years until her retirement. She volunteered her time often to local organizations including missionary work for the Cedar Junction Prison. Frances enjoyed traveling with her sister, Mary, and together they explored Bermuda, Europe and areas of Catholic historical value in Yugoslavia. She was a devoted to her Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and proudly hosted many family gatherings over the years. She is survived by her sister, Alice O’Brien of Centerville; her sister-in-law, Mary O’Leary of Medway; seven nieces and nephews, Susan Sullivan and her husband Kenneth of Norwood, Patricia Durant and her husband Joseph of Hanover, Richard Flagg and his companion Karen of NH, Robert Flagg and his wife Hazel of Randolph, Sean O’Leary and his wife Laura of TX, Erin O’Leary of Medford, Kevin O’Leary of VA; her best friend, Gertrude Huey of Boston; and many great nieces and great nephews. Ms. O’Leary was predeceased by her sister, Mary Flagg; by her brothers, Richard O’Leary and James O’Leary; and by her nephews, Stephen Flagg and Michael Flagg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, at 9:00 AM at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston, MA 02110.
