

SHEEHAN, Gary R. aged 71, of Norwood, passed away on Thursday, 6 February 2025 at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, with his wife by his side.
Born in Boston, Gary was the son of the late Francis X. and Winifred Joyce (McClelland) Sheehan. Gary was a 1971 graduate of Norwood High School where he was a wrestler and football player, both for all four years. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Management from UMass Boston in 1978. He served in the United States Army, Vietnam Era, in Germany. Gary was a member of the American Legion Post 70 and a member of St. Catherine’s Church. Gary was a co-founder of the Friends of Norwood Wrestling. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Gary was a supervisor at the Norwood Post Office for many years before he retired in 1990.
Gary was the beloved husband of 47 years to Diane (Shannon) Sheehan, devoted father of Michael F. of Fairlawn, NJ and his fiancé Mary Ortizio-Allison of Glenrock, NJ, Patricia A. Sheehan and her husband William Brown of Rockland, and Kenneth R. and his wife Lauren Hurd of Hamden, CT. Gary was also the loving “Gappa” to Beatrix Brown, Lucy, and Alice Sheehan. Gary was the brother of Susan (Sheehan) and William Graham of Scituate, Joyce Ann (Sheehan) and Robert LeBlanc of Bluffton, SC, and brother to the late Kenneth Sheehan, Gail (Sheehan) and her husband Peter Oliveri. He was a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Services from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Wednesday February 19 at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood at 11 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment at Highland Cemetery will be at a later date.
