

Born in Boston, he graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1945. A US Army World War II and Korea Veteran, he specialized in topographical surveying. A longtime employee of New England Telephone, he was an active member of the Pioneers. He volunteered for many years at SHARE, a local food pantry, the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, and Norwood Hospital for 20 years from 1990-2010. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Norwood Post #70. He was an active communicant of St. Timothy Parish in Norwood, where he was also a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Briody liked traveling. He and Jeanne especially enjoyed cruises and car trips.
Mr. Briody was the son the late Michael J. and Ellen (Lunney) Briody; beloved husband of Jeanne F. (Daley) Briody, with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage on June 28, 2012; loving father of Thomas J. Briody of Quincy, Anne G. Horn and her husband Donald of Red Lion, PA, and the late Robert G. Briody; cherished grandfather of Kyle and Samantha Briody and Kelsey and Emily Horn; brother of the late Leo and John Briody. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, and at 10:00am at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 5, from 4:00 – 8:00pm.
