John F. Coughlin

Born in Norwood, gradute of Norwood High School, Class of 1948, and of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, retired as Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Federal Employees' Compensation Act, Boston.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a long-time Norwood Town Meeting Member. He was the son of the late Frank B. and Anna I. (Morris) Coughlin of Norwood.

He is survived and remembered by Shirley A. (Conner), his wife of 60 years, whom he met while they both served stateside in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was the father of the late John F. Coughlin, Jr., and is survived and remembered by his son Frank B. Coughlin and his wife Patty of Fremont, NH, son Brian J. Coughlin of Norwood, son James C. Coughlin and his wife Frances of Norwood, daughter Jane P. Coughlin and her husband Mark Turdo of Ambler, PA, daughter Joan E. Coughlin of Foxboro, and by his grandchildren, Hillary A. Coughlin, Francesca R. Coughlin, James C. Coughlin, Jr., Elizabeth A. Coughlin, and John F. Coughlin, II. Also survived by his sister, Anne M. Berkland, of Westwood, and by his nieces and nephews.

Funeral Thursday, December 18 from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, at 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St. Norwood at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9 – 10:30 AM at the funeral home, relatives and friends kindly invited.
