Peter James Hand

Age 94 of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Son of the late Peter and Nora Hand of Jamaica Plain, a skilled electrician, proud member of IBEW Local 103, WWII veteran serving in US Navy, Airforce and Army 1st Cavalry Division occupation of Japan. Long serving Town Meeting Representative in his hometown of Walpole. A single engine pilot, avid dancer, traveler, and genealogist fond of dropping in on far flung relatives and rewiring their homes.

Peter is survived by his wife Marilyn (McGuire) Hand of Norwood and predeceased by his first wife Josephine Hand of Walpole. Survived by his six children, their spouses, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Peter Jr. (Holly) of Cypress TX, Barbara Putrino (David) of Binghamton, NY, Elizabeth Hand (Kim Taylor ) of Norwood, Judith Wolfe (Don) of Hopkinton, Joseph Hand (Carlos Caldart) of Brooklyn NY, Dorothy Hand of Ketchum ID, and stepdaughter Diane Smith (Michael) of Norwood.

Peter was the patriarch of the Hand family, predeceased by his Brothers Thomas of West Roxbury, James of Norwood, Mary Hand Slattery of Chelmsford, survived by his sisters Eleanor Carey of Chantilly VA and Margaret Carew of Westfield NJ. Uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and their children.

Services from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Saturday March 18 at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Norwood at 10:00 AM. Visiting Hours in the Funeral Home on Friday March 17 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
