It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Richard P. Mazzocca, 91, loving husband to the late Joan (Spellman) of Walpole, formerly of Dover, on April 18th, 2026.
Born in Somerville to Salvatore and Muriel Mazzocca, Richard is survived by his siblings Robert (Zeke), Muriel (Merle), Karen, Linda, Judy, (predeceased by sister Lillian and brother Salvatore, Jr.), his children Lee, Michael, Lori, John, his grandchildren, Lucas, Jesse, Frankie, Gina, Guthrie and many nieces and nephews.
Richard spent his childhood in West Roxbury, Somerville, Arlington and Jamaica Plain. After graduating from Jamaica Plain High School, Richie enlisted in the military and became a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served his country in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division and was stationed in Japan. He went on to attend Northeastern University graduating with a degree in business followed by a long, successful career working in the oil industry.
Throughout life, RPM was an avid sports fan having played football, hockey and eventually baseball for the Boston Park League. He was a longtime member of the Walpole Country Club where he spent many days on the golf course laughing, teasing and joking with dear friends. He touched many people with his charisma, humor, generosity and unwavering spirit. It’s no wonder, he was surrounded by an entire cast of characters.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in The Church of the Most Precious Blood, 30 Centre Street, DOVER on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11 AM, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery, Dover. Funeral Arrangements are in the care of Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood.
