On August 28, 2023, Barbara W. Lambert (nee Winters) passed away peacefully. She was the beloved wife of the late William Harold Lambert; devoted mother of Valerie Lambert Prenger and her husband Robert, Jr., Mark Lambert and his wife Linda, and the late William J. Lambert; dear mother-in-law of Patricia Lambert; loving grandmother of Grant and Anna Lambert and Timothy Prenger; dear sister of Clayton Winters Jr. and Beverly Winters Sowers. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from Western Maryland College and later went on to get her Master of Arts from Towson State University. Barbara had a passion for art and shared that passion as an art teacher while working at Parkville Middle School. She later taught art and reading at Deep Creek Middle School. She returned to Parkville Middle School and became department head of the art department. Barbara was also active in her community. She joined the Woman’s Club of Perry Hall in 1967. She served as president of the club from 1973 to 1975 and later became co-chair. She remained active in the club for many years until she was slowed by a stroke in July of 2019. She was a den mother for both of her sons for Cub Scout troop #732.
Barbara and William joined St. Matthias Episcopal Church in 1950 and were married there in 1953. They were both members of the choir for 71 years from 1950 until the church ceased operations in 2021.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10 AM, at the funeral home. An interment service will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org, or The Baltimore Museum of Art at www.artbme.org.
