David Michael Smith was born on July 8, 1965 in South Amboy, NJ to George and Phyllis Smith and grew up in Sayreville, NJ. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Patrick and Paul and sister Laurie.
He attended New Jersey Institute of Technology as an Electrical Engineer and went on to build a career in the tech field as a Senior Network Engineer. Upon his death he was residing in Perry Hall, MD and working for Sinclair Broadcast Group.
While working in Dallas, Texas he met and married Karen. They were married just short of 25 years. He leaves her and their two daughters, Allison and Hannah. Cousins Elizabeth and Rob. Nephews and nieces Patrick, Christopher, Michael, and Alyssa.
David was dedicated to helping his daughters receive an excellent education and started them on their way by guiding their progress in computer sciences. He enthusiastically supported them in their early soccer, music, and art activities and was very proud to see them both graduate from college and start their careers.
David’s love of roller coasters found them traveling to amusement parks across the country. His interest in astronomy and fascination with eclipses kept them looking upward in their travels. As an avid science fiction fan, he enjoyed Star Trek reruns and had started to write his own sci-fi novel. David was known for turning comments in a conversation into puns which was sometimes frustrating but always endearing.
