Edith M. Santone

April 4, 1928 – January 9, 2021

EDITH M. SANTONE - Born in Philadelphia PA to parents Ernest and Laura Santone, loving sister of Ernest Santone, Jr. (Barbara). Edith is preceded in death by sisters Angelina R. Amedoro (Benardo), and Ann Kobierecki (John). Edith is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, cherished friends and neighbors.

Edith grew up in Northeast Philadelphia. After graduating high school, Edith began her career at The Link Belt Company in Philadelphia as a secretary. She then began working for Philco-Ford, and in 1965 purchased her first car – a Ford Mustang!

Edith stayed with Ford which became Ford Aerospace, then the Loral Corporation in 1990, and finally to Lockheed Martin where she continued her career until retirement.

Edith’s responsibilities in defense contracting included managing logistics for the company’s U.S. and overseas operations. Edith thoroughly enjoyed her career which afforded her extensive travel opportunities in the U.S. and abroad.

Upon the death of her father, Edith and her Mother relocated to Willow Grove, PA where she quickly made new and lasting friendships with her neighbors, and was an active member of the Twin Brooks Condo Association. Edith was a devout Catholic and was a communicant at St. David’s Catholic Church in Willow Grove.

Edith, known by many as “Aunt E”, loved being with her family. . . be it baby-sitting her young nieces and nephews, or enjoying family gatherings in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Edith also made several trips to Italy to visit family members in Teramo.

Edith was a firm believer in keeping close family ties. Edith enjoyed dancing, especially line-dancing, and was a regular at the Warminster VFW Seniors Friday Night Dance.

Although she will be greatly missed, we are comforted in knowing that Edith has been welcomed into Heaven by her parents and sisters.

The family would like to thank all the Care Givers at The Gloria Dei Communities – both Personal Care and Memory Care, for their dedication in taking care of “Aunt E”. A special Thank You to the Nurses and Staff at Jefferson Home Care & Hospice for their concern and compassion during Edith’s last days.

Complying with COVID-19 restrictions, services at Schimunek Funeral Home in Nottingham, MD will be private. Edith will be laid to rest at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Baltimore County, near her sister Angelina and Brother-in-Law Benardo.

A memorial Celebration of Life will be scheduled later in the year when COVID restrictions allow.
