Emily Yvonne Pitt

On November 13, 2017, Emily Y. Pitt (nee Thompson) of Rosedale, beloved wife of Robert C. Pitt, Sr.; loving mother of Robert C. Pitt, Jr., of Havre de Grace MD; cherished daughter of the late Gerald F. and Evelyn S. Murray; dear sister of Rowean Eckert of Finksburg MD and Palmer Thompson of Stewartstown PA; godmother of Timothy Smith of Bel Air MD. Also survived by life-long friends and many nieces and nephews. Emily was born in McKeesport PA and moved to Baltimore as a child. She was raised in Greektown on Oldham Street. Her first job was with the S.S. Kresge 5 & 10 store on Eastern Avenue. She graduated from Patterson Park High School in 1960. She and her husband met on a blind date, and were married in 1961 at Abbott Memorial Presbyterian Church on Bank Street and Highland Avenue. She was a past employee for Bank of America and retired in 1997. She also worked as a seasonal data entry operator for the Census 2000 project, completed locally on Kelso Drive. This project was the first time the federal government and private industry worked together to complete a census since the beginning of the census department. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and collecting dishes. She is remembered as a caring, kind and humorous woman by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends will gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham MD 21236 , on Thursday, November 16, 2017, 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., and where a funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery.
