James Richard Simms, age 74, of Kingsville, MD passed away on October 19, 2023. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Simms (nee Ziegel), his daughter Shelley Frank, her husband Travis and their children Parker, Mason, Carter, and Caleb, and his daughter Andrea Myszkiewicz, her husband John, and their children JR and Ryan. Jim is also survived by his sister Betty Butler, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Bill Simms, Eunice (Sis) Coster, Shirley Brandt, and John Simms.
Jim graduated Perry Hall High School in 1966. After high school he joined the Baltimore County Police Department, where he worked from 1966-1989 and retired as a Detective Sergeant. Jim went on to work for the Maryland State Police, at the Maryland State Police Crime Lab from 1989-2009, where he worked as a Forensic Expert.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching local sports.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 12-4 P.M., at the Maryland State Fish and Game Protective Association, 8735 Honeygo Blvd, Perry Hall, MD 21128. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
