 I was a childhood friend of "Buddy" Hess during the 30's & 40's when he lived in Highlandtown on Grundy Street. We went to school together and worked in Willie's grocery store for awhile. He was a great pal and I often thought about the good times we had together as kids.
  I lived just up the alley on Fagley Street, and the back lot was our ball field and playground, and Grundy Street was our skating/hockey rink since it was the only paved street in the area.
