Lingard “Link” Oscar Dircks, age 92, of Lewes, DE passed away on August 12, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Pearce Dircks; devoted father of Wayne Arthur Dircks and his wife Kathleen, Brenda Dircks Schafer, Paul Edward Dircks, and Diane Dircks Fisher and her husband Steven; loving grandfather of Joshua Schafer and his wife Jamie, Justin Fisher, Jason Fisher, Holly Dircks Rose and her husband Robert, and the late Jeremy Schafer: cherished great-grandfather of five; dear brother of Edward Dircks and his wife Pat, and the late Walter and Howard Dircks.
Link served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as a member of the American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Association. He was very proud of his service to his country, and was honored to be part of the Color Guard at the dedication of the Korean War Memorial.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Link’s name to the Delaware Hospice of Sussex County at www.delawarehospice.org , or the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
