On September 4, 2025, Ken passed away after a prolonged illness. Ken was the only child of Martin H. and Lillie Mae McQuage (nee Burell). Born in Baltimore, he spent most of his youthful summers in Atlanta, GA.
An enthusiastic boater, Ken has owned boats since he was a teenager and has cruised the Erie Canal, as well as parts of England and Northern Europe. An avid Sherlock Holmes fan, Ken belonged to several Sherlockian organizations and was a member of the Baker Street Irregulars in NYC and the Sherlock Holmes Society of London. He enjoyed hiking and socializing with his many friends. Of Scottish heritage, Ken was a life member of the St. Andrew's Society in Baltimore and in his younger days frequently marched with them in parades and other events.
He was a kind and thoughtful man who was full of more knowledge and wisdom than any of us and was always ready to learn more. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary McQuage (nee Burkhouse) and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham MD 21236, on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 1-2 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment services will be private.
