Known to loved ones as Dad, Pappa Bear, Pop-pop, Marky Mark, and The Big Dog, Mark Anthony LiPira was born on July 1st 1956 in Baltimore MD. He was the 7th of ten children (5 boys & 5 girls), born to parents Dr. Joseph and Ellen LiPira.
Mark grew up in Towson on Loch Raven Blvd. and attended Calvert Hall College High School. He gave college a shot, but decided it wasn’t for him. At a party in Towson in 1973, Lisa Marie LiPira (nee Pettinato) stole his hat and his heart. The rest was history, and they wed on January 17th 1981.
The newlyweds resided in Perry Hall, where they stayed for 20 years and raised their three children.
Mark typically rose with the sun and could be found talking to the birds, sitting at the kitchen table or patio, drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and mastering the crossword puzzles. He enjoyed fishing, going to the racetrack, watching his beloved Ravens, Orioles, and Terps, and golfing with his sons (or as he called it, driving around and losing golf balls). He was also an avid traveler, whether it be cruising the Caribbean or simple trips with family to Ocean City.
In his professional career, Mark was the Jack of all Trades, working for Regal Shoes, Royal Farms, Terminix, John Deere, Mobile Mini, Amquip, DelMarVa Trailers, Ditch Witch, the list goes on and on. You name it, he could do it.
Mark closed out his professional career as a service manager at Al Packer’s Car Dealership in Middle River. After being the heart and soul of the dealership for 13 years he first retired in 2022. However, he quickly realized that being at home with his wife and a mile long honey-do list, he needed to get back to work. He returned to Al Packer for a final tour of duty.
A wacky sense of humor, calm and stress-free demeanor, and kind, gentle heart were his main ingredients in his recipe for life. These qualities are what made him so special to everyone he met.
Mark was the beloved husband of Lisa Marie LiPira (nee Pettinato), devoted father of Christopher Mark LiPira and his wife Tiffany; Stephanie Marie LiPira; and Alexander Anthony LiPira and his wife Casey. He was the cherished son of the late Dr. Joseph F. and Ellen M. LiPira; loving grandfather of Isabella T. LiPira, Zoey E. LiPira, Abigail G. LiPira, Jackson A. LiPira, Emma L. LiPira, Layne E. LiPira, and Eliana M. LiPira; dear brother of Constance M. Getz, Mary E. Lippenholz and her husband Richard, James P. LiPira and his wife Patricia, John M. LiPira and his wife Sharon, Linda A. Vitt and her husband Joseph, Donna M. Holland and her husband Thomas, Joellen M. Hurley and her husband Tim, the late Joseph V. LiPira and his surviving spouse Freda, and the late Francis W. LiPira and his surviving spouse Deborah; cherished brother-in-law of Gabrielle A. Hammitt and her husband Stephen, and Richard J. Pett and his wife Lori. He is also, survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
