Melvin C. Chandler, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, just six days before his 76th birthday. Born on September 20, 1949, Melvin lived a life marked by courage, dedication, and deep love for his family.
A decorated and honorable Vietnam Veteran, Melvin proudly served his country with bravery and sacrifice. His service shaped not only his character but also the values he carried throughout his life—integrity, strength, and devotion.
Beyond his military service, Melvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Chandler; his daughter, Shelly Walton, and son-in-law, Erick Walton; and his son, Melvin Chandler Jr. He took great joy and pride in his grandchildren—Nhya Chandler, Greyson Chandler, Ashley Abrams, Sean Abrams, and Garrett Walton and his wife, Lakin Walton—and was especially blessed to be the great-grandfather to his cherished great-grandson, Ryder Walton.
Melvin will be remembered for his steadfast love of family, his quiet strength, and his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. His presence brought warmth, guidance, and stability to every life he touched.
At the request of the family, a private Celebration of Life will be held in Maryland on September 20, 2025. Those who wish to attend may reach out to the family directly.
Condolences and flowers for the service on 9/20/2025, may be sent in care of his daughter, Shelly Walton, at 5532 Edwin Ct, White Marsh, MD 21162.
Though he has left this world, Melvin’s legacy of honor, service, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
